[Theory] [Solution] [Case Study 2] [Request a Demo]
The MIECHV program concept is ground breaking in the MCH and family health information technology realm. The concept pioneers a new business model where a single information system is used to manage multiple and diverse independent programs that have their own systems, procedures and business processes. In this model, a central data collection vehicle networks on the backend with an unlimited number of silo based organizational information systems to export out all of the information collected to the silos as if the sites under the central system were working on the silo system directly.
There is no precedent for this model. This is new territory specifically because this model extends beyond the normal exchange of information between systems. Because the central system now takes over the role of providing the work environment for its sites, the central site must now be capable of providing all of the tools necessary for these sites to effectively implement the business model of that program. The central system has to transcend beyond just systems integration. The central system has to be able to provide the same quality of program management to its sites that allows them to successfully implement the standards of the national program.
Well Family System (WFS) was developed specifically to support this new collaborative technology and business model. It is important to note that when comparing WFS to current software being considered for MIECHV programs that WFS is not an existing system that will be modified to fit this new business model. WFS already does this!
Example of an on the shelf WFS MIECHV configuration
WFS is a collaborative system both internally and externally. Internally, WFS is designed so that a single program can stand alone as a silo, meeting its unique program requirements and processes OR coexist with other programs while providing common intake paths, management of complex family situations, common family support plans all as a family-centered process. Any or all of the information collected from these individual programs can be brought into a collaborative environment.
For MIECHV, WFS collaborates externally by serving as the central set of tools and processes to manage any or all of the program models. Each one of the WFS program “silos” is enhanced to meet all of the data and process requirements of that individual program model. In the example there are three stand alone programs, Nurse Family Partnership, Parents As Teachers and Healthy Families. Each of these programs is aligned with the national program data, process and system requirements. WFS hands over all of the data collected internally to the information system of the respective national program electronically.

Bridging the data between all of the information systems is the easy part. Every solutions provider capable of taking on the MIECHV program has been pushing and pulling data between systems. Go Beyond has been doing it for over a decade. The opportunity is to do this in a way that is meaningful to the clients, families, communities and agencies where we use the silos to help build a bigger picture of what programs are really doing.
Well Family System is a true collaboration. It not only links programs and information it also works as a social network of individuals, family members and program participation. While being able to look at the specific components of a program or service WFS enables the consistent view of the interaction between people and programs now and over indefinite time lines. WFS greatly enhances the MIECHV program concept because it is so multidimensional as a collaboration.
